Eye Color

The eye color of a champagne foal is bright blue. By the time the foal is three months old, the color may begin to change to green, and then gold.

[SW Champagne Class, Quarter Horse stallion]

The eye color of an adult champagne can range from light gold, to green, to brown (shown here).

[Skip O Neill, Quarter Horse mare]

The shot at left is a wonderful example of the mottling that can be seen on the skin around the eye, as well as the greenish-gold coloring of the adult champagne's eyes.

[Peso De Oro, Tennessee Walking Horse stallion]

When combined with other genes, such as the cream gene or spotted pattern genes, the eyes of a champagne may remain bright blue.
